Awww...bliss.

I am here in Houston visiting Ryan's family for New Years, watching Texas play. I had a wonderful Christmas, and I plan to have an amazing New Years. I saw so many people, because I have gained several relatives-soon-to-be-by-marriage. It is wonderful, but can be overwhelming. I have gained the respect of the little cousins and grandkids, bonded with the grandma's and aunts by listening to cooking advice, and made a few funny jokes that are clearly my Dad's own classic lines. (Thanks, Dad.) Hopefully I have graduated from "Ryan's annoying girlfriend" to "Ryan's slightly annoying but funny fiance", or AKA "We're stuck with her."

But after all the homemade goodies and gravy, the amazing gifts and getting to hold small children for hours, nothing compares to the simplicity and the beauty of not being able to find my watch. I was sad when I realized I would have to leave without it, but that is when you know you are relaxed: when you couldn't care less what time it is.

My Senior Project Proposal is a distant thought, and I am actually enjoying football. Don't tell anyone. I hope that Texas loses, because no matter how far I move from home, or how deep south I travel, I will always proclaim "Boomer freakin Sooner."

Amen.
