Ron's Auto Shop

Let me tell you a story about a typical Kelly family vacation. This was our first vacation where we included Ryan, and boy, was it interesting. Our lovely Dodge caravan just could not take another trip. I actually cannot remember the last time we took a driving trip where we didn't have van trouble. Anyway, so we are driving along in Branson, MO, and my Dad sees the "Service Engine Soon" light. He calls the dealer, which isn't open and after a few phone calls we get connected with Ron's Auto Shop, who says they will work on it. Cool. So we head there, and it is a house. A blue house with a guy named John with a blue shirt wide open and a Love tattoo on his right peck. Yum. He says he can fix it, but he has to get the parts. And so begins our wild goose chase to make it to the show we had bought tickets to and rent a car, because we can't drive ours. John lets my parents take his car to go rent US a car.....and it is a old 80s looking-red convertable with the words "Fear This" across the windshield. The image of my parents in the "Fear This" convertable is the best thing I have ever seen. What a trip.

How many NBA players retire to become Zookeepers?

"When is your wedding, again?"

How do you answer this question? Again? Who told you when it was in the first place? I want to say "Go away. I am not engaged." But you can't just say that to a secretary at Memorial Road. Or Ryan's friend from Dubai's Mom. Dear everyone, I will be engaged in due time. And you will know. Promise. My mom thinks asking someone if they are engaged or implying that they are is like asking someone if they are pregnant. You don't just ask them....you check it out before you ask. Ask their friends, check their finger or wait for their belly to grow. I am not pregnant, either. Or engaged.

Today I babysat for my favorite boys, Michael and Nicholas. Their parents had to go to Tulsa, so I have spent the day with them. When I was taking them to lunch, I asked Nicholas (the 6 year old) what he wants to be when he grows up. He said this "Well, if I get good grades I want to be an athlete. And then play in the NBA for two to three years and then be a Zookeeper." Ha.
