We got bored...

This is a long overdue post, but when it snowed like crazy, we got bored. Ryan and I both stayed home from work, and shenanigans ensued. See below.

We dressed up our dogs.

Resourcefully cooked.

Pancakes. Training for when we have kids. (My Dad always make us initial pancakes)

I wanted to do a puzzle. Ryan did not.

The dogs got a little stir-crazy, too....

Gotta go....Sadie is trying to drag Lewis around the house.

Sadie is in L-O-V-E

Sadie has been searching for a male companion her whole life. Most of her dog buddies that are male seem to live farther away. She hangs out with girls mostly. She has been wanting a boyfriend forever. Now, don't worry, she is fixed. But she wants a male friend. Remember this?

Well, she has found a new love. His name is Lewis. Ryan bought him for me for Valentines. I love Lewis. He is super cute.

So when we brought Lewis home, we put him in a chair and wanted to see what the dogs would do. They were intrigued. Parker was a little scared. But Sadie, oh. She loved him instantly. And never wanted to leave his side.

Meet Lewis.

At first it was cute. Really cute. We put him in our room and only let Sadie see him every now and then. We keep our door closed, and she usually runs to it to see if it is open.

It was a cute little quirk. Then it got weird. I was out taking pictures and I got this text:

Hahahhahahaha. I am probably the only one who thinks this is hysterical. Here are some pictures of Sadie and Lewis.

Giving Lewis some lovin'.

Guarding Lewis from Parker.

Hey! Stay away from Lewis!

I will guard you forever, Lewis.

Snow Day and Snow Day Projects.

So we were iced/snowed in for FOUR days here! The dogs were very confused. But spoiled. They did not complain.
Arrrggggh. I'm stretching. Give me more bones and throw this toy for me, will ya?

Our backyard on Friday, when it snowed. We had just had ice, and the dogs could not walk on it. But the snow, they loved. They kept eating it.
 Is this ice cream?

They had a blast. We were warm and toasty inside. Probably waiting on them to come in so we could watch Netflix.

I tackled another organization project. I learned how to complete tasks quickly from my mother. Remember this? I did this is an hour. But this project below only took half and hour. While I was watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion. Such a multi-tasker. (Is Camille nuts or what?)

Before....

After. Ahhhh.

Give me a space and I will organize it. It's my super power.

Destruction by Sadie and Parker

And by Sadie and Parker, I mean just Parker.

This used to be a tent that we used for grilling and giving the dogs shade. No more.

I came out of the shower yesterday, and this is what I found. So many questions. How did she get that rug to roll up that many times? Why did she drag her food bowl out? Was breakfast not filling? Why did we never take the IKEA sticker off?

Sadie and Parker didn't do this, I only have myself to blame..

I was the most mad about my claw clip getting drenched.

I wanted to wear it, dang it.

Bluebonnets 2010

After bribing them with treats and a trip to the dog park, this is what we got....

Not too bad, if I do say so myself.

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

I have been trying to catch this for weeks. Whenever Parker takes Sadie's bone, it makes Sadie man. But because she can't get her to give it up, she has to resort to drastic measures. She sits on her.

Huge Snow 2010

What is this stuff?
Are you aware it is snowing out here?

Only 39 days till Glee comes back. But who's counting?

Let's Move on, Shall We?

In honor of moving on from the drama, here are some funny videos of my dogs. My good friend and fellow Bachelor watcher Natasha posted a cute video of her dog. You should watch it. It is so funny. So I wanted to get it on the fun. They are all under 30 seconds, so plug in your headphones and watch for a minute. It's worth it...promise.

This one is Sadie before Parker was even around. She is playing with a ball that has a motor in it. Pretty cute.

This one is our dogs playing in the snow at the Hejl's house. They had been in their crates for 24 hours....thanks to the Ice Storm 2009-Edmond-gets-targeted-with-14-inches-of-snow.

This one is recently...we got the Gentle Leader leash. Parker did not like it. This one is pretty funny!

Okay, now I'm sorry

Okay, the guilt set in about neglecting my blog. I said I wasn't sorry, but I had a change of heart. A little like Jason on the Bachelor, without national TV and as many tears.

I love our new puppy, I really do. But man, there are times when I ask Ryan whose idea it was to get a second dog. Then he looks at me and I say "I know, it was mine.....but it wasn't one of my best."

She is cute, but she is a little fireball. I am sure Sadie was this way, too, but I don't remember her being like this. And another weird note about our 2nd dog is that I feel like I have "2nd child syndrome" with her. I don't have as many pictures of her. I have not blogged about her too much. And she doesn't even have her own Christmas ornament yet. So I am going to attempt to make up for that. I'm sorry, Parker. We love you just as much as we love Sadie. Sadie is just trained and easier to manage. She doesn't try to jump up and eat my hair, and she doesn't have a really high pitched bark that drives me crazy. Anyway.....

We got Parker from a fantastic rescue shelter called "Animal Guardians of America." If you are looking to rescue a stray, please check them out. They were so kind, so accommodating, and I was very impressed with them. They came to our home twice. Once to bring Parker and once to follow up. But they messed up one little thing. They told us that they had not had her fixed, and so we had to get it done. Now, this wasn't too big of a deal, except that Parker had to have the surgery, and she couldn't jump, run or horseplay for two weeks. Wait, hold on. That is all she does. How are we going to keep her from doing the very things that define her? She is a jumping, running, horse-playing ball of fire. Good luck to us, right?

And the solution. A rawhide bone. This is the only thing that would keep Parker and Sadie from playing roughly. I won't even tell you how many bones we have gone through in the past week, because it is just embarrassing. I feel so bad just giving them bones to keep them happy, but I don't want Sadie to rip Parker's stitches. Ew.

To end this post, a picture of our sad little puppy as we left the vet. She was disoriented, sad, clumsy and quiet. She was just not herself. But the good news is that the next day you would have never known she had surgery, if you couldn't see the horrible shave and the stitches.

Much love,
Allison

Our new puppy, Parker!

Here she is! And she is just as sweet and adorable as she looks here....in a sweater. I never thought I would be one of those people....but look at her! She is precious!

Much love,
Allison

New Puppy

We are getting another dog, and I am pumped. We are rescuing her from a shelter. I like to say that we are "rescuing" her. Doesn't that make us sound cool and nice? I think so.

Back in the Spring, we discussed getting another dog. We felt so awful (and by we, I mean me) about leaving Sadie home, by herself, all day. No one to play with. No one to talk to. It kinda broke my heart a little bit to think about that poor puppy in the backyard by herself for 9 hours a day. So we decided that we would look into adopting another dog. But we had stipulations. We wanted her to be older. At least a year old. And we wanted Sadie to like her. Because if she hated her, then what was the point?

So first there was Jasmine. Ah, Jasmine. Sweet little dog we found at petfinder.com that was born in 2008. Perfect, we thought. Turned out to be a typo. She was born in 2009. But we didn't find this out until we took Sadie to visit her at a Petsmart on a Saturday. Sadie did not like her. She kept trying to run away from her and she kept looking at me like "Really? This is who you want me to hang out with?" But she was very cute, just young. And her paws were massive and Sadie didn't like her. So sadly, I put her back in her crate and tearfully went home. Just a few tears. It is very sad to put a dog back that you know needs a home. Ryan assured me that someone would adopt her. And they did.

On our way home I told Ryan I didn't want another dog. One was enough. So that was the end of that until a few weeks ago.

A few weeks ago, I decided that I needed a new beginning in my life. I wanted a change. I wanted to add something to my life to make it more interesting and different. So I decided that this change was a second dog. It was either that or learn to pilot a commercial jet. But I would have trouble not using my laptop or iPhone while flying, and we all heard what happened to those poor pilots.

We found Parker online, and she looked just like Sadie did when she was a puppy. We went and met her, and Sadie tolerated her. Sadie did not mind her. She was no threat to Sadie. Sadie didn't run from her or give me the look. So we applied to adopt her.

Tonight they will bring us our new puppy. She is 4-5 months old and she looks like a mini-Sadie. When she was a few weeks old, she was found wandering around west Dallas. She needs a home and I am so happy we can give her one!

There is just one small problem. It's her name. Parker is a boy's name. But it is pretty cute. I will either change it to Piper, or call her Parker. What do you think? Most people say Piper. She doesn't answer to Parker, so we could change it. Cast your vote!

Much love,
Allison
