My Favorite Things

Yup, just like Oprah. I interrupt these posts about Lylah, to bring you my current favorite things. Well, they are about Lylah because I use them with her.

1. ItzBeen

A friend recommended this, and I love it! You can put in what time you started feeding, and it helps you keep track. You can also track how long baby has been sleeping and how long since the last diaper change. I use the feeding one the most. When we first got home from the hospital we used the star button for my pain medication. Great invention!

2. My Breast Friend

I first saw this on TV. Bethany Frankel was using it on Bethany Getting Married. (love!) I googled it, and thought it looked interesting. At our Breastfeeding class at the Hospital, the lactation specialist recommended it. She said that many women had told her it made the difference for them being successful with nursing. And I have to say, I love it. It stays on your waist if you need to stand up while nursing (holding baby of course). It has a little pocket on the side to hold your ItzBeen, and snacks. I usually have some candy stashed there. I love it. If you are planning to breastfeed, you need it and it is worth the price.

3. My Babywise Book

Yes, I'm one of those. I love Babywise. Ryan got the book when I was pregnant and made me read it. It's awesome! It has helped Lylah be able to sleep 7 hours a night, which is beyond amazing. You can read more about Babywise here: www.babywisemom.com

4. Little Einstein Piano toy

A church friend gave us this toy at a shower and it is Lylah's favorite. She has even started pressing the keys! So cute. I need to video it. Absolutely love this toy, love the music and Lylah loves the flashing lights and colors.

5.  Woombie

Uh, this is not Lylah, btw.

Lylah sleeps in a woombie allllll the time. We started out swaddling her, but she always broke out, no matter what we did. Remember this? My friend Susan had used this with her daughter, so I went and bought one at the Nappy Shoppe. Then I bought another. It's great because she can move her arms around because it is stretchy, but she can't wake herself up with her arms. And saying "woombie" is just plain fun.

So there you go. No one asked, but these are my current favorite baby things.

Newsletter: 3 months

Dear Lylah,

I cannot believe you are three months old. This month flew by! It felt like I had just taken your 2 month pictures. You are just getting more and more fun as the days go by. Daddy said the other day how crazy it is that you just wake up and can do something new.

I absolutely love taking pictures of you. You generally tolerate about 15-20 minutes of pictures (including outfit changes) before you are DONE. You are such a smiley girl. I can usually make you smile just by leaning right up to your face and saying "Hi". It melts my heart and makes me want to just cry, laugh and burst with joy. (That sounded more dramatic than intended.)

You've started laughing a lot more. You laughed a little in your 2nd month, but now you are more giggly. You love to laugh at Daddy! He "boops" your nose and you just smile and laugh. Super cute. You make the biggest smiles and stick your tongue out.

You are doing really well with your nighttime sleeping. You will sleep for 6-7 hours, eat and then sleep for 4 hours and that is the best. You went through your 3 month growth spurt last week and really threw me for a loop. You woke up every 3-4 hours and I was not sure how to function during the day. But you are back to your 6-7 hour stretches. As far as napping though....not the greatest. I'd hate to say you are not a good napper because you are getting better....but you have trouble sleeping for longer than an hour.  I have been reading and trying to stretch your naps as best I can. Yesterday one of your naps was two hours and I was so happy! Right now you are at 4 naps a day and 6-7 feedings a day.

You are very interested in your hands and feet. I think it is so adorable. You stare at them, move them, and look at them like...how did these get here?

You've had lots of visitors this past month. You got to spend some time with Coach, Mimi, Aunt K and Aunt Denise....

You had a visit from Mama (Your Great-Grandmother), Great Aunt Janice and Cousin Mary....

You LOVED meeting your Uncle Adam...

More fun with Coach and Mimi......

And Gramps and Gigi finally got here from Australia!

You had your first Thanksgiving...

And you are ready for Christmas!

We love you Baby Girl!

Love,
Mom
