But I loved the Grey's Anatomy Musical episode.
Yes, I know you hated it. You thought it was awkward. But I loved it.
I loved the songs, I loved the singing! I appreciate it when anyone tries something new (Ask my students, who hear "You tried something new! Hooray!" almost weekly), and I was so proud of these actors for giving it a go. Most of them really sounded great, with the help of some studio tricks, I'm sure, but I enjoyed it.
I have downloaded the songs, and I listen to them. A lot. Yesterday I missed my exit because I was engrossed in "Chasing Cars." And I told Ryan to get ready, cause it will be with me at the hospital when we have this kid.
I liked this, too. This is a blog written by the creator about the creation of the epsiode. I thought it was interesting.
Show Creator's Blog
I'd also like to add that Ryan has the same baby syndrome as Patrick Dempsey. He's a baby mesmerizer as well. He's that good looking! :)
One more thing, can you enter my giveaway? So I can stop worrying about it? Go here for details and please participate. I know you are tired of hearing about it. I know I am!
Enjoy this! My second fav of the night...

I LOVE Glee.
Last night, Ryan and I are watching TV and I notice "Glee" on the DVR. I look at Ryan and raise my eyebrows.
"Babe, why did you record that? I thought we talked about cutting back on our shows. You just started grad school." (go here to see a list of the shows we watch)
"Yeah, but I thought you said you might like it."
"Some of my High School friends said I should watch it. But really, we don't need another show."
"Well, let's just watch it, and if you hate it, we won't record it anymore."
"Alright."
Note: I was a singer/performer/dancer/show choirer in High School. Yes, one of those people. I made some of my best friends there and I will always remember it as one of my favorite times in my life. Performing with my friends was SO MUCH FUN. I kinda wish YouTube had been around then, and maybe I could have some videos available. Just for fun.
**an hour later**
Uproarious laughter fills our living room.
"I love this show. LOVE. THIS. SHOW. Google it. What, he was nominated for a Tony? They do all of their own singing?"
It makes me so nostalgic to watch this show. I can guarentee you that I will never miss an episode! Check out some clips below and go watch the pilot at www.fox.com.
Sometimes I miss Act II.
If you were in Show Choir with me, and you haven't watched this show, you need to. And even if you weren't. So funny. So great.
Much love,
Allison

I have a new show. . .
Like I need a new TV show! And especially one where I am in the bedroom laying on the floor, and Ryan when asks what's wrong.....I have to tell him that I was pretending I am on SYTYCD and I hurt my knee a little bit. How humiliating.
But Ryan and I have started watching "So You Think You Can Dance" and we like it a lot! I knew my good friend Brenna enjoys it so I decided to give it a try. I think it is such a fun show!
My favorites right now are Randi, Melissa, Ade and Kayla. I was totally bummed when Caitlyn got eliminated. She was so good technically!
This video is the Hip-hop routine from Randi and Evan. For some reason, I love it! I think the proposal and ring and the story line about her being pregnant (they talked about it before they danced) made it seem hokey, but I just love this routine for some reason. I think one of the reasons is I never thought of Beyonce's Halo as a hip-hop dance number. But I just love Randi. She is super cute.
Okay, this is old. This is the top 20 group dance, but I thought it was SO good. I wish the video was better quality. I thought this dance was really cool.
I have no idea who will win, but I really like this show! Makes me miss dancing. Now I just need to not hurt my knee pretending I am "Dancing for my life".
Much love,
Allison

Bachelorette Thoughts
So, I have not blogged about Jillian's Bachelorette season yet. Which, if you read my blog, is abnormal for me. But, alas, there is so much going on in our lives. But that is a whole other post.
To see something funny, go to my Facebook and see Sadie chose the color of our grout. It is pretty funny. I would post it here, but it is on Ryan's computer at home.
Okay, now to the Bachelorette. Hmmm. Here are my current thoughts.
1. One thing I have noticed about this season is there are a lot of "dark horses". I think that there is only supposed to be one "dark horse" in a competition, but I think in Jillian's case, there is more than one. I think both Reid and Jesse are her dark horses. What a weird sentence. I like both of them! Reid reminds me of Chandler Bing, and there was one moment last night where he was joking with Jillian about having two wives, and it reminded me of Ryan and myself. So I think I like him because he reminds me of my husband. Nothing wrong with that, right? I also like Jesse cause he seems to be genuine, like Reid.
2. When the show first started, I liked Kipton and Jake. I still like them. They are both good looking, and seem sweet. But for some odd reason, I am just secretly wanting a relationship (besides Trista and Ryan's) from this reality show to work out. Because otherwise, I feel like a loser for wasting my time watching it and ahem, blogging about it. All that to say, I think Jillian and her man have a better shot of making it if she chooses Reid or Jesse as opposed to Kipton or Jake. Reid and Jesse have both seemed like easy-going, down-to-earth guys who really, really like her. Chose one of them, Jillian. For the love, please make a relationship work for this franchise! (I really doubt this will happen, but a girl can dream....)
3. Wes is slimy! He keeps playing that same song and talking about his CD and I think he is bad news. I don't like him, and if you watch the show, they make it seem like Jillian is the only person who can't see through him. Ugh. Go away, Wes. I will NOT buy your CD.
4. Ed left for work. Okay, so he had to go because his boss gave him an ultimatum. He said he could stay there and "find love", or he could keep his job. I bet that boss got a hard time at work this morning. The women in the office are probably glaring at him behind their coffee cups and talking about him when he uses the water cooler. Jillian was SO upset about Ed. Overly upset, it seemed. To me, logically, he should have left (as he did), because he didn't know how long Jillian would keep him around, and when she dumps him later, he would have no career to go back to. But honestly, to my girly-nature, I see how Jillian would see this as "Ed would always chose work over me." And, if you are going to start a family with someone, they need to have their priorities in line. But it is a little different, because it is a reality show, and if I told my boss I was leaving to go "find love" for 6 weeks (if I wasn't married to the love of my life, obviously), I would get SOO made fun of. If not from my boss, the other ministers would have a field day. I would never hear the end of it. Wow, this is a long paragraph. Let's move on.
That's all for now. Hopefully you are still awake.
Much love,
Allison

Lil' Kim goes home!
What? Ryan does not care one bit about DWTS, but even he was surprised. When they announced Lil' Kim was going home, Ryan and I looked at each other with our jaws droppping! I can't believe Ty Murray beat her out. He must have some following. Maybe people just don't want to tick off his wife, Jewel.
Go Melissa! And yes, I still think that if she saw me at the grocery store, she would thank me for supporting her. Ryan told me last night that this is a silly thought. Well he didn't say it, but he gave me a look, and then a hug. But I really like Melissa. She seems cool.
Too much DWTS for me....can you tell?
Much love,
Allison

My thoughts on The Bachelor and Jason "Jerk" Mesnick...
I have been typing this post since last night, and have been trying to process how I was so dumb to get sucked into this silly, silly show. What a waste of my life.
My thoughts on this show:
1. I liked Melissa from the beginning. She was sweet, seemed genuine, and I just liked her. Okay? Jason, aka public enemy number 1, chose Melissa. He chose her! Yay! I am never right on these shows! But then....
2. He changes his mind. He "can't control his feelings". Note: We control our feelings everyday. This is why we don't run in to the back of the car in front of us, even though they have cut us off in bad traffic. This is why we don't hit our co-worker, boss, or friend when they make us really mad. It is called controlling your feelings.
3. Then he publicly humiliates Melissa. According to several sites, Melissa knew that this might be coming. You can watch the video at the bottom of this post to see Jason's interview with Jimmy Kimmel. (He discusses this.)
4. Then, Jason tries to get Molly back. She seems shocked, but them she kisses him. She just melts and takes him back. Why would she trust him? He dumped you once,
and then publicly humiliated Melissa.
5. Jason says that this is the way he feels, and if people don't like it, then they don't like it.
6. Jason walks over to Chris Harrison and accepts a trophy for being the "All-time-Jerk-of-the-Bachelor". (This didn't really happen. :)
I don't think this was staged, as some bloggers and news stories are saying. I just think it
is DUMB.
Please tell me how you feel....cause I feel MAD and HURT.
Much love,
Allison

Who will he pick?
1. I like Melissa. I always have. Even before this You Tube video came out. SPOILER ALERT! (Well, maybe. If this is for real.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83d8e3hNoHA
2. I liked Jillian, too. I was kinda sad to see her go. But I couldn't stay to like, hear her talk agaiyin. (That is Canadian for again) I guess if you are going to marry someone, it shouldn't be someone you can't stand to hear speak. Good move, Jason.
3. Molly bugs me. And Ryan. Yes, I make him watch The Bachelor sometimes. She says she is pretty if she doesn't open her eyes. Not a good sign.
4. I am confused about DeAnna coming back. I think that they are trying to make us think she is there to get Jason back, but I think she is trying to tell him to make sure he makes the right choice, because she didn't. Read: Snowboarder Jesse is totally with that girl from Matt's season.
5. The producers are trying to make us think (or, I don't know, maybe it did) that something crazy happens at the end. They are saying that the After the Final Rose show was taped in private because it was so shocking. I just think they didn't want people attending it and telling about what happens. They usually use paid actors for the Women Tell All and After the Final Rose shows anyway.
6. This show is so stupid. But I watch it. And I now a lot of people who watch it. Once every season I say to Ryan: "This is so dumb. Why do I watch it?" But I tune in every time. They have me hooked.
On a completely unrelated note, I have no email at work. So I am calling people. I feel like I am an OC telecounselor again. I would prefer email. Come on, email! Start working again, please!
Much love,
Allison

I might be becoming Anti-LOST.
No, I am not going to try to not get lost in my life. Well, I guess everyone should do that. But I am talking about the TV show Lost. Ryan and I are watching Lost currently, and I cannot get into it.
Now, I know a lot of people like Lost. I am not "hating" as the kids say. (Did I just say the kids? Maybe I am getting old.) I understand that people enjoy the show. And I still am watching it, so I must like something in it. Right? Something is making me tune in. Or maybe it is just loyalty.
When Ryan and I first got married, we were both unemployed and so we rented the first two seasons of Lost and watched them all in a matter of weeks. It was awesome! I loved it. I was invested.
As the seasons have gone on, I have come to find the show incredibly frustrating. I just don't get it sometimes, and I have watched it from the beginning. I mean, come on. SPOILER ALERT: Don't read on if you are not caught up.
Really, black smoke that changes people? A bright light that changes the date and makes you mad? Random nose bleeds? Ben is "good" now?
I just don't get it. But I will probably keep watching. There is room on the DVR.
Much love,
Allison

Dancing with the Stars Line-up, Part 1
I have so many things I could blog about right now. But, instead of having a deep post about my life and ministry, I will spare you that and talk about Dancing with the Stars! And the Bachelor, probably...if I have time. :)
Dancing with the Stars announced PART of their line-up for their March something debut of Season 8. Everyone is talking about how there are lots of romantic couples, one married, one engaged and one dating. Here are my thoughts!
1. Julianne Hough (whom I LOVE as a dancer but don't care for as a singer) is dancing, even after she said last year she was done with the show. She is dancing with.....drum roll....her boyfriend. Some country singer. I guess if you are going to come back to the show, it might as well be for your love interest.
2. Jewel is dancing. I like Jewel, but Ryan doesn't. I think she has bad teeth, but she is a good singer. But honestly, I didn't know her career was that down the tubes to go on Dancing with the Stars! But then again, I haven't heard a lot from her since she sang that one song...what was it...about the towels on the floor and don't leave your keys in the door?
3. Speaking of down the tubes, there is Denise Richards. She is dancing with the very handsome, but conceited, Maksim. (I am not even going to try to spell his last name. I am not sure I got his first name right. Probably not.) Denise should be interesting. Will probably cry a lot and drive Maks crazy! I perdict a fairly early exit for her and sadly, Maks.
4. Jewel's husband, Ty Murray, is also on the show. Weird. Maybe they only do things together? Biking, bowling, going to movies, reality TV? Okay, sure.
5. Shawn Johnson is competing this season. I like her! I preferred Nastia in the Olympics, but I really liked Shawn, too. My lifelong bff Rachel Chiz liked Shawn better, so I will give her a chance, I guess. But regardless, she is totally my prediction for winner! (I guess I should wait to see who else is going to be on the show, but you heard it here: Shawn Johnson WILL win.)
5. Lil' Kim. Okay? Prediction: Early Elimination.
6. Belinda Carlisle from the Go-go's. Who? Showing my age here I am sure.
7. Someone named Steve-O from a TV show title I cannot post on my blog. You can look it up, I guess. Sorry.
8. They said Karina (one of the pro dancers) will be on the show, but they didn't say with who. She will be dancing against her fiance, Maks. Wasn't she dating Mario Lopez (aka AC Slater) for a long time and that just ended a few months ago? I wonder who she will dance with. At the rate we are going, it will probably be someone's husband.
The Bachelor:
Out of time, but Melissa is totally going to win, and I am happy, because I like her. And she is from Dallas! I never pick the winner right, so this would be a true first.
Much love,
Allison

Thoughts
How can I rebound from a post like the one below? I think that is a pretty ridiculous story, and I think it is pretty funny. Feel free to read it and comment. Or maybe it is not that funny, I am not sure. But I think it is.
I am watching the Grammy Awards right now, and I have a few thoughts. I may have more when it is over, but I am not sure I am commited enough to stay up that late.
1. Coldplay just keeps winning. And when they accept awards, they might as well just say "YOU ARE WELCOME. We rule. You are very welcome for us gracing you with our horrible outfits and music." (Just FYI, I don't think their music is terrible. Just their outfits and attitudes.)
2. Carrie Underwood used to be such a great singer. Someone let me know what happened!
3. Jennifer Hudson is quite inspiring.
4. Taylor Swift is probably one of my favorite artists right now. I will admit that I listen to her daily, and I love her. So Taylor, my friend, please don't sing with Miley Cirus! Are you kidding? You are above that.
5. Katy Perry is such a one-hit-wonder! She is not good live.
6. I love Jason Mraz.
7. Is Kid Rock still singing?
That is all.
Much love,
Allison

Dilemma:Blog about Obama or The Bachelor?
I cannot decide what to blog about! Two events/show/TV things in the past 24 hours have inspired me to write. One is historic, the other is silly. So I have decided to post a double. Here goes. Tell your friends!
I wish I could post as wonderfully as Lincee on www.ihategreenbeans.com. I wish I could write a really funny Bachelor recap like she can. But I cannot. So I will try to give a little insight on last night's show.
Disclaimer: I don't know why I watch the Bachelor. At least once an episode I say out loud: "This is so stupid". But I watch anyway. Why is this? I don't know.
My thoughts on last night's episode:
1. Melissa is my pick. I think final two are her and Jillian. I like them both. She looks like Mandy Moore and she is super bubbly, but I am still holding out for Melissa.
2. Shannon puking, and then coming out, hugging Jason and getting a rose was SO. LAME. Ok, where is the Lysol? Call the intern and have him run to Walmart! We need to disinfect!
3. Megan is just not a good girl. She is like that girl in High School everyone knows who DRAMA JUST FOLLOWS. She creates it if it is not already there. She needed to go home last night, badly. But, hey, she is good TV.
4. The whole “be open and tell Jason your feelings” at the Rose ceremony was weird. Why are we having a Women Tell All in episode 3? It became weird. I love Chris Harrison, but I thought this was just dumb. But hey, made good TV.

5. Natalie's date was painful. I recapped the entire date for my husband later. I don't think he found it as funny as I did, but it was pretty funny. "I like bears." Favorite quote!
5. Overall, a hilarious episode. Loved it!
5. Overall, a hilarious episode. Loved it!
Why do I watch this? I keep asking myself.
Obama. Now, as I was driving to work this morning, albeit in horrific traffic, I found myself secretly hoping people would stay home to watch the inauguration. Ryan laughed at me when I suggested this. I have only been at my current job for 5 months, so I don't know how certain holidays or events are handled. Will we gather around someone's computer? Will there be a TV in someone's office where I can watch the speeches? Then I remembered I can watch it online, and I felt satisfied. But little did I know that online was going to FAIL me.
I got to work and began streaming the LIVE MSNBC video to my computer and just let it play while I worked. I ran around to the printer and across the street and such as per usual. On one of my trips across the street I notice that the big screen in the Singles Classroom is set up with ABC. I stop for a few minutes to watch, then think, "I can watch this online". So I go to my desk, and watch. THEN, it stops. Just stops. So I grab what I am working on and high-tail it down to the Singles Classroom. As I step in, one of our beautitful secretaries says "He bobbled his oath". AND. I. MISSED. IT. I was less than enthused.
Despite missing one of the more memorable moments, the speech itself was quite inspiring. I enjoyed it. I thought he kept looking way far to the left and then way far to the right, which bothered me. Never looked straight ahead it seemed. But hey, lots of pressure, and he just messed up his oath. Or the Justice messed it up. I will find out tomorrow on the TODAY show. (My fave).
Enjoy your historic day. And let me know what you think the Bachelor!
Much love,
Allison

TV Problem
I happen to enjoy great TV shows. Several great TV shows. And I am not the only member of the Harms household who enjoys TV. Both Ryan and even Sadie like to watch TV. Ryan and I have what I call a "TV problem". We love TV. We would marry it, but we are already married to each other and since we both love TV there is no point.
Below is our list of shows we DVR. Be prepared to be amazed.
Big Bang Theory (Ryan enjoys this because it is about nerds.)
How I met your Mother (Love this show!)
The Unit (my all-time fav)
Cold Case (Not my fav)
One Tree Hill (we have watched it since the beginning...we are faithful to our shows.)
Prison Break
Dancing with the Stars (NOT Ryan's)
Samantha Who? (GREAT show.)
Chuck (Not going to be around forever, but we like it.)
Desperate Housewives (NOT Ryan's)
Private Practice (NOT Ryan's)
House (NOT mine)
Law and Order SVU (My Dad makes fun of me for this one.)
Without a Trace (I hate this show.)
America's Next Top Model (I am faithful.)
Private Practice (I enjoy Addison)
Project Runway (Gotta watch this...it's fun.)
Criminal Minds (GREAT GREAT show.)
CSI: NY (My favorite CSI)
CSI: Miami (Everyone is really tan. Ryan's favorite CSI)
Law and Order (I am very faithful to this show.)
CSI (Eh....I don't like it now, but we watch it.)
Grey's Anatomy (LOVE it.)
Numbers (Pretty good.)
Dog Whisperer (We gotta..for Sadie)
All NFL games that relate to Ryan (Ugh)
All Big 12 football games (Tolerable. I only watch the OU games)
Frank TV (Ryan's.)
30 Rock (heheheh.)
The Office (GREAT.)
Kath and Kim (Funny!)
24 (the most amazing show EVER.)
Heroes (I put this in italics because we had to "drop" it...too many monday night shows. We will watch it on DVD.)
....and we have opinions about all of them.
There. We are officially confessing our problem. But hey, we like it. It's how we bond.
So...No, we can't watch any new shows. We are booked.

I love me some Dancing with the Stars.
It's that time of year again. That precious time of year where Ryan and I have the Monday and Tuesday night debate of who gets the big TV.
"Please, watch DWTS with me. If Emmet Smith can do the show, you can watch it!"
"No thank you. I would rather watch Emmet play football."
After last night's premiere of DWTS, here are my thoughts:
1. Cloris is really old, and kinda weird. And she says bad words. She is annoying.
2. Kim Kardashian bothers me. Urks me. By the way, did you read that she swears she wears a size 27 jean (waist) and got ticked that people didn't believe her...so she showed her tags on a video on a blog? Really? I digress. 3. Edyta got screwed over. Jeffery Ross is not a good partner...and Edyta, even though she doesn't really wear clothes, is a great dancer. Sorry Edyta.
4. Samantha Harris looks pretty bad. She obviously works out like crazy and lives in a tanning bed. This overtanned, overly skinny, overly done up look is not flattering. And she is not really a good host. She is the queen of making the show awkward.
5. Julianne is beautiful! I have always liked her.
6. Lance Bass needs to stop going tanning with Samantha Harris.
7. Cloris is annoying. Did I say that?
8. Toni Braxton is pretty good. I like her. She MIGHT be my favorite.
9. Len can be an old fart.
10. This season should be interesting! I don't really just LOVE anyone....but hopefully someone will grow on me soon...because I am sacrificing the big TV to watch it. And I have to miss football. Darn it. (Read: sarcasm.)
More thoughts to come, I am sure.
Much love,
Allison

Allison Harms: It's Not Complicated
School is over for the year, which RULES, by the way. So now I have to decide how to fill my time. I must point out that it is 7:30am on a Wednesday morning, and I am trying to figure out why I am not working. My husband is off to work, and I am here watching reality TV and drinking coffee. Drinking coffee to wake up for.....nothing.Go figure.
Lately I have been watching reality shows, mostly because there is not much else on, but also because it is like a bad car wreck. You just can't look away. Recently, "Denise Richards: It's Complicated" premiered on E! and I can't look away. Just can't.
Poor Denise Richards. That is the premise of the show. Poor thing. So misunderstood. Made millions, married Charlie Sheen. Had two really cute kids....stole someone's husband (supposedly)....and decided that she should make a reality show because her recently deceased mother wanted her to make one. Really? She did? I find this hard to believe. While she was dying of cancer, she told Denise that a reality show would be a great recreational activity and really help her career?
Do they not see that all families who do reality shows fall apart? The Nick and Jessica, Kimora's marriage, the Hogans? Ring a bell? Maybe Denise thinks that since her marriage is already over, maybe she thinks there is nothing left to mess up? Only up from here? I don't know.
So far, most of the show shows her trying to defend herself against tabloids and other antics like spray tanning, fishing, riding go carts and finding a mate for her pet pig. (Really.)
But her sister and her good friend sit and look at stories and pictures of Denise, and Denise claims that they are "so untrue". I wonder if they will read this? That would be awesome. COMPLETELY awesome. Denise, if you are reading, tell your friends. Tell your friends about my awesome blog.
