The past few days I have been sick. I have a sinus infection and bronchitis. We went to the Doctor on Sunday night because I almost died. Not really. But if you were around, you would have thought I was dying. However, this is not my point.
On Monday, my Husband took a few hours off work to take care of me. He was great. At about lunch time, he decided to go back. I said from the bedroom: "Ryan, take the stew in the fridge for lunch...." Did he? No.
On Tuesday, Ryan left to go to work. I said from the bedroom: "Ryan, take the stew from the fridge or the pineapple chicken for lunch...." Did he? No. Later that night. . .
Me: "What did you take for lunch?"
Him: "Nothing.. I had to eat at the cafeteria."
Me: "Ryan. Look in the fridge. Look! There are TWO meals in here!"
Him: (sheepishly) Oh.
And then...Ryan discovers that the mail has not been picked up in a few days. Why? Because I get it everyday. Goes to show: he makes the rules, but I get the job done.

Parking Space Snob
I have recently discovered something about myself. I am a Parking Space Snob. I admit it. I will not park and walk. I will drive around until I find one that is semi-close, or until someone pulls out so that I may take their spot. This drives Ryan crazy! He just parks. Considering that he drives most of the time we go anywhere together....this causes us to disagree.
"Wait, there is one!"
"No, that has to have one of those hatchbacks in it. We will just park back here."
"No! There has to be one closer. Don't park here."
"Babe, this one is fine. By the time we find a closer one, we would have been inside."
"But think of walking all the way out with our groceries and stuff...it will be worth it."
Guess which one is me?
And then I like to bookend the conversation by finding the closer spots on the way in and saying "Ryan, why didn't you park here?".
So for all of you Parking Slot Snobs out there, stay strong. I am on your side.

Whoa!
Whoa! It has been a while. The last time I wrote, it was New Years 2007. Why do I return, you wonder? I don't really know. I just felt the urge to write. Since my last post, I have graduated, gotten married to the most handsomest, funnyest, adorablest guy in the world, moved to Dallas, started teaching Elementary Music, and bought my first Christmas tree. Right now, Ryan and I are preparing to go on a ski trip with some good friends. Maybe that is why I write. If I die on the slopes, will anyone have read this? If you are reading this after I hurt myself, please know I had a wonderful life. Anyways, as we begin another year, I would like to pause and reflect. This has been a great year. I directed 4-5 (depending on how you look at it) successful programs for school. I have cooked many meals for my hungry husband. I have even not been late to school cause I slept in...yet. So as we enter January, I am filled with the hope of a great year. But nothing worries me more than the usual gloom that befalls me in that month. Christmas is over. Valentines Day is a month away. The snow melts and the ground is brown and there are no Christmas lights. How do I plan to overcome this? What is my solution? I feel that if I prepare for such change, I can defeat it. My goal is to face 2008 like a joyful Holiday 3rd grade program. With vengance, pride, dignity, and a little anxiety. I shall tackle you, 2008. Look out.

As we begin another year...
Ok, this is going to be the biggest year thus far of my entire life. Reality hits me as I think about all the things that will happen this year. Many are exciting, some scary, and some just plain fun. I will student teach, graduate, get married, move out of a 15 minute radius for the first time in my life, become an obnoxious Texan, learn to drive in for real traffic, be someone's wife :) and hopefully start teaching Music at a cute little Elementary school.
Do I make resolutions? yes. Only one. Be ready for lots of change.

Awww...bliss.
I am here in Houston visiting Ryan's family for New Years, watching Texas play. I had a wonderful Christmas, and I plan to have an amazing New Years. I saw so many people, because I have gained several relatives-soon-to-be-by-marriage. It is wonderful, but can be overwhelming. I have gained the respect of the little cousins and grandkids, bonded with the grandma's and aunts by listening to cooking advice, and made a few funny jokes that are clearly my Dad's own classic lines. (Thanks, Dad.) Hopefully I have graduated from "Ryan's annoying girlfriend" to "Ryan's slightly annoying but funny fiance", or AKA "We're stuck with her."
But after all the homemade goodies and gravy, the amazing gifts and getting to hold small children for hours, nothing compares to the simplicity and the beauty of not being able to find my watch. I was sad when I realized I would have to leave without it, but that is when you know you are relaxed: when you couldn't care less what time it is.
My Senior Project Proposal is a distant thought, and I am actually enjoying football. Don't tell anyone. I hope that Texas loses, because no matter how far I move from home, or how deep south I travel, I will always proclaim "Boomer freakin Sooner."
Amen.
