Newsletter-- 17 months

Dear Lylah,

17 months sounds way to old. I think I will just refer to you as "1". When people ask. That way you still sound little. I can't believe how much you can do and how much you change all the time. You are an active, sweet, funny girl. Words can't express how much fun you are, and how much fun we have as a little family of three.

You really are such a sponge! You just soak up everything around you. You repeat literally anything we say. Yesterday we got you to say "I love you", and we were so excited. We haven't got you to say it since. We will succeed eventually!

You still love to sign, talk, and read. You can even identify the book..."Maisy!" "Eat!" "Mama!" (All variations of titles of books you love...) And if you like a book...look out. You will want to read it over and over. And over. And one more time. Then again.

Here's something no one will care about but me....

You went potty on the potty twice. (Keep in mind I am posting this on my blog, not on Facebook. Ew) Every night before the bath, Daddy sits you on the potty. (Which is just a special seat we got at lowe's that has a child's size seat built into the seat. So easy! And less clutter=LOVE) You usually just sit there and then get in the bath. But you have gone potty twice in the last week! The last time you went, we were so excited!! I looked at you and said "Mommy is so proud of you!" and you yawned. That's right, yawned. YAWNED. It's so boring being so awesome.

You've started this cute thing of saying "aww" when you hug things, and people!

You're favorite things are being outside, throwing and kicking a ball, "making" coffee and serving it in your kitchen, going to school, playing with Hannah and Elizabeth, and reading.

You've started getting fixated on certain things. If you kind something that you want to do, read, etc...you get so obsessed with it, that its IMPOSSIBLE to get it off your mind.

Those pigtails are my FAVORITE.

Last week, you decided that naps should be between 45 minutes-hour, and that you only want to sleep 11 hours a night. Thank the LORD that this was a phase. I'm thinking it was a growth spurt, because that is not like you! I shouldn't complain, because you do sleep so well at night. I am very thankful! Our days of waking up twice at night (or once, as you did for SO LONG, and I thought it would never end) are behind us. Knock on wood.

You are still a great eater! Your favorite thing is crackers. You love to sign, say and eat them. You call them "kager". You also just started calling elephants "eh-ta-ta". This is currently my favorite thing ever.

You can identify and say what they say (moo, neigh) of most of the animals. You amaze us when you will point out things from your books! Your favorites are horsey (which you adorably refer to as iffy, even though you know the right name), dog (barkabarka) and sheep (jeep). My favorite words you say are balloon, puzzle, and applesauce. Your vocabulary is huge!

You really are a joy! You are a good girl in Bible class, and Mother's Day out (separate post coming). At least they say so. :)

We LOVE you!

She's just such a ham!

This little stinker. Check this out:

Her Gigi took these yesterday, with her new, awesome 35 mm lens. I was just talking to her while Gigi snapped these. The top center and the bottom left are my favorite. Lylah is known to answer questions with a drawn out "Yeeeaaaah?" And that's exactly what she was doing in these pictures. I just love her expressions!

These are the faces I will want to remember! :)

Just to embarrass her one day...

This little girl loves a good bath. She giggles, screams, reads her bath books, captains her boat and talks. And talks. And splashes. And usually gets in trouble.

Goals for the New Year

Now, I love a new year. It's a good feeling for me. I like the idea of starting over our budget, starting over on my books for my business, and setting goals for the year. I've never really been one for resolutions (read: keeping them), but I always try to get myself back on track. And I get the cleaning bug and clean everything. And I usually try to drink more water.

I have some goals. Generally, to just try and be a better wife, mom, Christian and person. As I was perusing pinterest, as you do, I came across this pin that really hit me.  I read it on my phone and I just LOVED it.

It's just so. good.

So I'm going to try to do more of that.
